  • The Capital of China is Beijing.
  • This is where the 2008 summer Olympics will be held.
  • There are 17 million people living in Beijing. In total
  • In total there are 16,800 square miles.
  • Beijing climate is hot and rainy in summer and cold and dry in winter. Autumn is the best season because the sky is blue, the air is crisp, mild , and humid. In the spring, it is warm but still very windy. In the fall it is chilly and rains quite often.
  • The oriental cypress is the city official tree. The city flower is the Chinese rose and the chrysanthemum.
  • The cypress represents courage and strength. Also their hardworking nature.
  • The Forbidden city was the Chinese imperial palace, and it held 24 rulers from the Ming and Qing dynasties. There they lived and ruled.
  • Today, the Forbidden Palace is called the palace museum and holds artifacts from the Shang dynasty through the Qing dynasty.
  • The Forbidden city is the worlds largest palace.
  • Beijing was the capital city during the Liao,Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties.
  • Other sites there are part of the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven.
